    Hi Cynthia,

For your student, with ASD in the DLI program you would gather data based on the targeted skills you want to focus on. For example, if you want to measure progress for language proficiency you could use scores from state language assessments for CALP, observational data for BICS, or progress towards ELD standards. For academic progress, you could review formative and summative assessments, universal screener data, teacher running records, work samples. For behavior, you could collect data for frequency and duration of positive replacement behaviors and ABC data for maladaptive behaviors if you are monitoring a behavior plan. There are so many variables at play here because of his Autism so I would consult closely with the SLP regarding receptive and expressive vocabulary in L1 and L2 since his instructional program is dual. IEP goals are always a source of data for measuring progress. You want to make sure the IEP has goals for all areas of need with good data collection methods to report on at each reporting period. If in doubt, have an informal staffing to discuss his progress with service providers. I hope this helps.
